App: Vathos Bible for iPhone and iPad (com.creditch.verbum.ios)
This policy describes what Vathos Bible actually does. It is not a generic template.
Vathos Bible is free. There is no purchase, no in-app purchase, no trial, no ads, no donation or tip prompt, no account to create, and no analytics SDK. (StoreKit code from an earlier paid design remains in the source but is compiled out of the app.)
Your Bible text lives on the device (bundled public-domain translations, plus optional translations, study corpus, Learn courses, and map packs you download). Four licensed translations (ESV, NIV, NLT, NKJV) are read online from their publishers' own services; those requests carry the passage or search words, never your personal study data. Notes, highlights, bookmarks, journal entries, reading progress, and settings live on the device. If you are signed into iCloud, that personal study data syncs through your iCloud private database (iCloud.com.creditch.verbum). Creditch does not run a server, does not operate an account system, and does not sell data.
PrivacyInfo.xcprivacy) declares NSPrivacyTracking false, with no tracking domains. It declares two collected data types, neither linked to you nor used for tracking: the anonymous feedback you choose to send (NSPrivacyCollectedDataTypeCustomerSupport, for support), and API.Bible's count of NKJV passages shown (NSPrivacyCollectedDataTypeProductInteraction, analytics for the publisher; see "Networking").study.sqlite (catechisms, public-domain commentaries, confessions, Easton's dictionary), and Learn courses can be downloaded on demand and then stay on the device. These are reference files, not your personal data. Licensed translations (ESV, NIV, NLT, NKJV) are never written to disk. Search hits, comparison rows, and the Today preview are dropped when the app goes to the background or quits. The chapter on screen stays in memory until you leave it or the app quits; neighboring chapters kept for paging are dropped on background.group.com.creditch.verbum so home-screen, lock-screen, and Control Center widgets can render without opening the app. Licensed editions are never written there. The Learn payload does not include verse text.UNUserNotificationCenter). Each body carries BSB verse text and a deep link into the app. There is no Apple Push Notification service certificate and no push server. Authorization is requested after a reading session, not on first launch.SystemLanguageModel. Input is only user-authored note/journal text and tags — never scripture, Strong's, or fetched verse bodies. A summary you keep is stored on that note as a marked artifact, not mixed into the body. Creditch does not receive this content. If iCloud is available on the device, Vathos Bible uses CloudKit's private database in the container iCloud.com.creditch.verbum. That database belongs to your Apple ID.
Synced items include highlights, notes (including optional generated summaries), journal entries, bookmarks, reading spot, recent chapters, settings, reading-plan state, and Learn progress. Sync is automatic when you are signed into iCloud — there is no Vathos account. Translation and course downloads stay on each device.
The remote-notification background mode is CloudKit's silent push for prompt sync. It is not a marketing push channel.
v1 is designed to read scripture offline. Bundled public-domain translations (BSB, KJV, WEB) are local SQLite, and downloaded packs stay on the device. The licensed translations below, the optional satellite map, and feedback are the only features that need a connection each time you use them.
Network use in a store build:
content-manifest.json from the Creditch/verbum-content GitHub Release (HTTPS GET). That request does not include your notes, highlights, or any other personal study data, and it does not block first chapter paint. If you choose to download an additional translation, the optional study corpus, a Learn course, or the optional Atlas detailed-terrain map pack, the app downloads a static .sqlite file from the same Release, verifies its checksum, and keeps it on this device. Pack installs stay device-local and are never synced via CloudKit. Removing a pack deletes the local file.api.esv.org), for reading and search.api.nlt.to), for reading and search.api.youversion.com) for reading; NIV search uses API.Bible.api.scripture.api.bible), for reading and search. When an NKJV passage is shown (or NIV, where this build reads it through API.Bible), the app also tells API.Bible's usage service (fums.api.bible) that it was shown, as API.Bible's terms require, so the publisher's readership can be counted. That report carries the token API.Bible sent with the passage and two random identifiers made fresh each time the app launches; nothing about you, and no identifier that lasts beyond that launch.formsubmit.co), which emails it to the Vathos support inbox. See "You choose to move data off the device".HTTPS is used for any networking. The app declares ITSAppUsesNonExemptEncryption = false (standard HTTPS only; no custom encryption).
CA92.1 (same app) and 1C8F.1 (app group).Vathos Bible is a Bible reading and study app, not a social network and not directed at children as a data-collection product. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. There is no account to create. Anyone who uses the app on a device signed into iCloud is subject to Apple's iCloud terms.
Creditch/verbum-content). A download request includes ordinary HTTPS metadata (IP address, user-agent). Creditch does not receive that traffic. GitHub's handling of it is governed by GitHub's terms. No personal study data is sent.fums.api.bible). Like any web request, it includes ordinary HTTPS metadata (IP address, user-agent). Each provider's own terms and privacy policy govern what it does with those requests. Creditch does not receive that traffic.formsubmit.co) on its way to the support inbox, and FormSubmit's terms and privacy policy apply to it.Share-sheet destinations and files you export are not "our" third parties; you choose them.
On-device data remains until you delete it in the app or delete the app. iCloud private-database records remain until you delete them, disable iCloud for the app, or Apple deletes them under your iCloud account settings. Spotlight entries are removed when the corresponding note or bookmark is deleted. Pending local notifications are removed if you turn reminders off. Widget snapshot data is in the App Group container and goes away with the app. Feedback you send arrives as an email in the Vathos support inbox and is kept there; because it carries no name, email, or identifier, we can only find a particular message if you tell us what it said.
To stop iCloud sync: sign out of iCloud, or disable iCloud for Vathos Bible, in system Settings. Creditch cannot reach into your private database to delete it on your behalf the way a typical "delete my account" email would, because there is no Vathos account.
We do not sell personal information. We do not share it for cross-app tracking or advertising.
If the app starts collecting something this policy does not describe (for example, any analytics), this policy will be updated before that ships, and the App Store privacy nutrition labels will be updated to match.
